Analyze explain the meaning of: " Dirt does not know rain until it is mud"?? I don't get it. Do I have to analyze it using rhetoric.

It means that the idea of something and the reality are quite different. In other words, the dirt could have a conceptual knowledge of rain (it is wet, it falls from the sky, etc.); but, having the rain actually fall and transform the dirt into mud is a knowing from experience rather than as an abstract idea. You might make an analogy to love: someone who has never been in love might have an idea (caring, commitment, affection, etc.) but to actually experience it transforms the person and gives a level of understanding that is only attainable through experience.

I have never heard this before....but I think it means: experience changes you. As soon as dirt experiences rain, it becomes mud...because the rain turns it to mud.
