What is the racial makeup of the city? What is the age breakdown? What percent of the city lives in each of the major areas? What is the economic breakdown of city residents?

I think one of the most interesting math conceots is the magic #70. When calculating population growth, you divide 70 by the percentage of growth and it will tell you ho many years the population will take to double in. For example a city with 10% growth (which is huge) will double in just 7 years (70/10). Some cities try to regulate their growth and pass laws mandating ONLY 2% growth. Doesnt sound like much but your city will still double in population in just 35 years. I find that amazing!

You could do the percentage of children and adults in a city, or the percentage of males and females in a city or even the percentage of litterate adults in a city.
