Is the atom a proven thing? can we see somethign that small?

And also i done get how its mainly empty space with micro particles inside..... that would mean everything is mainly electricity, which ould make the world collapse...

Somethings i dont believe liek the size of an atom around the subatomic particles, the fact weve never touched anything ect...

Plz explain to me the atom better, because i cant get my mind off of it, im always thinking man everything we see is empty and its just tehre because light is bouncing off of the empty space field of atoms...

kinda depressing lol.

But i just cant comprehend the fact everything may be mostly empty space and hw we are made solid, and all touchable matter....

Were does god come into this, (alternate question if you feel liek answering)

i agree with you, i dont buy the whole theory, i think it is just the best explanation that fits within the experimental data

> Is an atom a proven thing
No. It's a scientific theory.

> can we see somethign that small?
Not really. We can get scatter patterns from some of the large metal atoms by bombarding them with electrons, which give us some idea of the shape. It appears to be consistent with the mathematical models.

> mainly empty space
That's right. It's mainly empty space. There's a nucleus, and some electrons. This was found by hitting some gold foil with alpha particles. Most of the particles went through -- but some bounced back.

> light is bouncing off of the empty
Light interacts with the electrons of the atoms.

> everything is mainly electricity, which ould make the world collapse...
The repulsion from the electrons at close range is pretty good, which is why things don't collapse. (Electrons repel each other).

The atom is a notion created by the ancient Greeks - how small of a piece can you make of something, and still have its properties.

Now, about 100 years ago, Rutherford was blasting gold foil with Alpha particles. He found that they went through the gold foil. However, he also found them being reflected back at him! The only mechanism that would explain this would to have a the atom having almost all its mass concentrated in the center, with a positive charge.

Now, remember that like charges repel - like trying put two magnets against each other the wrong way. The exterior of atoms are a bunch of electrons, all with a negative charge pushing against each other. That's what makes things solid.

Light occurs when a electron loses some energy, giving off a photon. Many photons are in the spectrum of visible light.

We can't see atoms directly.

Many, many people have disliked and tried to disprove quantum theory. However, it best explains results of experiments.

Well I Guess There Is No Way To prove That God Exists I Guess. Im Not Religious, But I Do In A Way Believe In God. but I Guess We'll Just Have To Wait Till We Die To See If Exists In Heaven Or Not? :)

Nothing in science is proven. But the idea aint broke so don't fix it.

unless there's something that makes it not work

in that case check your math and them publish it
