First off Michigan lost to an arch rival in a game where they were given a real chance with turnovers but still came up short. The vaunted Michigan D came up short. Is the Rose Bowl so anticlimatic that Michigan won't be up.

I've also heard that Michigan wants to prove they should have been in the title game which can actually also work against them. They may force plays and try to hard like Cal did a couple years ago.

USC on the other hand lost to a completely average ucla team. USC has to be down from that pathetic loss to a 6-5 team. Also USC has been playing in the title game for the last 3 years so the Rose Bowl is a step down. So how can USC get up for the game?

airmueller ucla is a completely average team even if they are USC's rival. USC spanked ucla for 7 straight years. That game was a crushing blow for USC anyway you look at it. Even if you lose to a rival when they are average and pathetic on offense it hurts.

I think the mention of a rivalry is important. As a Michigan fan I can completely understand how USC lost that game. The Woody vs. Bo battles started with Bo causing a huge upset wiht an ok Michigan team over the best (in Woody's words) OSU team Woody ever coached. Will they b e able to get up for the game? OH YEAH! I think part of the reason the Rose Bowl selected Michigan over LSU or ND was because they knew the traditional game could be an exciting one. These two teams have done this quite a lot so should be a great game. Probably the best of all bowls except maybe Oklahoma vs Boise State. Hope this helps. GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!

As Pete Carroll reported, on the initiating of the season, USC's purpose is to play on the Rose Bowl; the different more effective BCS Bowl sport is gravy. USC has performed contained in the most Rose Bowl video games, and has the purely right win list. even with the actual incontrovertible reality that the nationwide championship sport would were sweet, the Rose Bowl isn't any mere convenience prize. touching on to Michigan, they'd the 2005 Rose Bowl sport loss adversarial to USC to avenge. extra, they have performed contained in the 2d maximum Rose Bowl video games. both communities performed their hearts out; do no longer let all people inform you otherwise. both defenses performed extemely nicely contained in the first 0.5, and both communities had to position self belief of their passing attack. It grew to change right into a sport of Booty and his receivers, and Henne and his receivers. DJ and Steve Smith were adult males adversarial to boys contained in the 2d 0.5, at the same time as the SC secondary enormously a lot stifled the Michigan receivers till they performed "ward off protection" contained in the purely right jiffy of the game.

Nope. Both teams have something to prove. Michigan would wanna show the nation that they deserve to be in the title game. USC would like to bounce back from the disappointing end to their regular season and get the bad taste out of their mouth. I expect a great showdown with Michigan coming out on top.

I think Michigan will want to prove that they should've played Ohio State. USC might have some problems. Their 2 loses have come to Oregon and UCLA. But they did beat Notre Dame
. Theres not much to be able to motivate USC but Michigan has something to prove.

That "completely average" UCLA team is USC's biggest rivals. It doesn't matter what their record is, they're going to play USC tough.
