Take it as when they fall down and get hurt, if mommy isn't watching they play again, but if mommy is watching, then they cry.....
I wouldn't worry about it.

How old is your baby? As a mother of two, going on three, I found that both my kids liked to do things of that nature. Your son/daughter may have simply seen you or another family member coughing, and is copying . Silly as it sounds, yes, even for attention. I wouldn'worry about it. If it continues or get worse, then maybe see the dr. But remember, children are "little sponges", they absorb everything we say and do very early in life....don't worry too much!

Don't worry. If you can tell it's a "fake" cough, give him an oh, poor baby, hug him, and let him go about his business. He's just looking for attention.

My 6 month old son does this too, sometimes at first it's a real cough but then he thinks it's funny so he keeps doing it and laughs everytime, it's the cutest thing! Don't worry about it at all, just enjoy it!

No... the baby is just trying out sounds and your reactions to them. My daughter (19 months) tries to make a choking sound if I'm cooking or can't give her my undivided attention. He's just trying to communicate with you and testing out the noises he can make and how you respond.
