punk (unfortunately) died in the 90's when the aforementioned bands hit MTV. Fugazi, Minor Threat, Dead Kennedys, The Clash, and The Ramones rock.

that is a can o' worms question my friend. More than likely you'll get a bunch of eleventeen year olds saying "yeah I'm a punk" but honestly you won't know if they are or not. Good luck though.
