distance = rate * time
so you get
235 = rate * 5.5
divide 5.5
you get 42.727272
which rounds to 42.73 mph

You have to turn 5 h and 30 min into 5.5 because it's 5 and 1/2 hours. Now use the formula D=RT to find your rate.

Remember that rate = distance / time
For this problem
Distance = 235
Time = 5.5 hours

So, 235 / 5.5 = 42.72 mi/hr

42.7272 repeating, you would just take the number of miles and divide it by 5.5 because thats how many hours it took.
