Well, a thing goes with D&D called an urban legend. For example, kids might hear about a D&D cult whose members kill teenagers and mark the murder spots with arrows hung with feathers.
Kids might also see a movie in which a crazy D&D player tortures his friends. Chances are that playing D&D drove nobody to this kind of behavior, but people still think of this. Remember the outcry over the Harry Potter stories and schoolchildren? People were afraid that the witchcraft theme would corrupt good kids. The same goes for D&D. It is thoroughly possible that young players will encounter mature people who say things to discourage kids from playing this game.
If somebody enjoys playing D&D, I suppose that is all right. Be aware of these problems associated with it, and know another thing: that crazy people are drawn to strange fantasies much like the one represented in D&D. Keep it in your gaming club.

The only reason that people think D&D, Magic the Gathering or any other game like that is bad is because they can't handle the mythical side of it. I am a practicing witch and I see nothing involved in any of those games that would be about any religion. They are fantasy! They are fun and they are for entertainment purposes.
People who would be against them have a very narrow viewpoint about life and how people are or should be as individuals. Instead, they try to force everyone into a single mindset.

Wow. I didn't know people still play D&D. I think it's perfectly fine. Crhistian conservatives hate it for it's dark and cultic undertones but, they hate everything. You could argue this. It's not Poker, in which you lose alot of money. It's not Illegal and it's JUST A GAME!

D&D rules. I have played it for several years, and I have never had any issues with it. I play on weekends with friends(mostly because we are so weird and have all of these little things that we add in) and we play for hours. But, I mean I am not addicted to it. I have never seen any of the issues that the article said happen ever to any of my friends or their younger siblings who play D&D. So I dunno maybe the scientists are crazy.

Depends on who you ask....if you ask a Christian or someone who opposes witchcraft and sorcery, then yes D & D is VERY bad. On the contrary, if you ask someone who does not care about witchcraft or sorcery then it will not bother them. What it comes down to is personal conviction, if you get a bad feeling when you play it, then stop, if not then continue but be aware of any changes that may take place in your attitude.
