I vote for a book but that's just me.

I have an Xbox myself and I must say there aren't as many child-oriented games as the PS2 so for a 6-year old, I'd recommend a PS2. Not, though, that the Xbox does have some child-oriented games like Blinx: The Time Sweeper, among a few select others but the PS2 would probably be more suited for your child.

For actually controlling, I find that the Xbox controller may be harder for a 6-year old to get used to than a PS2 controller if you're taking that into consideration.

Hope that helps.

He is going to get addicted of this crap...I have nephews and one has xbox and other has ps2....

they dont want to study or anthing just want to play that crap all the time... and bug their parents for more and more video games... and I was shocked to notice that the have some game which are for matures only...

I would avoid these....as much as possible...but If I really really really have to buy one...I would go for Nitendo as it is for kids and have REAL kids' game... like mario and stuff...but xbox and ps2 will give all the fighting, action and blood games and some of those have really not-suitable graphics too...

Dont ever think you can control on your son's game choice, I saw these people trading different game with their mates...

Good luck with whatever you guy decide....

PS2 has many more 'child friendly' games. There are tons of used games on the market right now, so finding games for it will be easy and inexpensive, but the drawback is now that the PS3 is here, new releases for the PS2 are going to slow down, if not stop. BTW I would go with the slim model since that is the newer version of the PS2

PS2 because an xbox is very complicated because it has a lot of buttons on the controller. Also PS2 has a lot of "Child" games where on Xbox it seems all games are Rated "T" or "M"

Neither. Get Nintendo Gamecube. I think their the majority of these games are geared for children. We have a PS2 and are missing out on some really cool kids games because they are only made for Nintendo.

PS2, Xbox controllers/games to big and fiddly.
PS2 is more user-friendly.
BUT Try considering not getting him a console.
Something more educational or if it's neccessary, A handheld console, PSP or GBA?

Keep with the educational games if possible...You might want to try V.Smile...They have some pretty kool games!

If you think he's past that then I would recommend Game Cube. There's all kinds of games rated E with this system.

Just my opinion
