Wikipedia.org is a very good site. It has vast amounts of information on many and I mean MANY subjects. It is vewry helpful if your a student or have a child who is a student. One caution: users can put there own information in so make sure you verify what you get is true using another source if you doubt anything. 99% of the time it's all ok. Hope this answers your question.

ps. If your looking up a perosn list the last name then first name...it's just eaiser that way.

Overall, it is a good site. Sometimes it is not very reliable since it can be freely edited by people. Since it is a volunteer-operated site and does not process enquiries about the content of articles, that should be taken into account whenever using it. I would never use it as a source for a paper, but I frequently use it to find general information about certain topics. I watched "The Colbert Report" when Steven changed something on wikipedia, and since enough people agreed with him it was stated on there as fact. Just keep things like that in mind when using, get a second opinion about some things, and you'll be fine.

Wikipedia has a lot of techniques, yet many articles are incomplete, or they have little or no techniques, and some words and words that must have articles do not. So for "reliability" imagine of it as an exciting mag article. each and every mag article has a bias of a few style. i exploit it significantly only to look up a unprecedented note or word to ensure what techniques is for sale. each and every so often there'll be pictures of insects or animals that journey what you're searching for for. Now about your "pal" Any adult who says "who're you going to believe, them or me?" is a con artist or a liar or a jerk. this is between the tell-tale words they use to dominate human beings. Wikipedia is in elementary words one source of techniques, there are a kind of others. Watch him carefully as time is going with techniques from and word if he adjustments into someone who you could not believe. even as the instructor says wikipedia isn't good, they advise it does not qualify as a source for pupil comments. scholars are required to seek out techniques from many resources, and that is only too elementary to sit down on the computer and enable the "internet" grant each and each and every of the files.

This is not a good site because anyone can go on there and can change the information so under sports could put in something about smoking so just make sure the information is right and not just something they randomly put in there!

There's a wealth of information there on thousands of topics, it's great for quick knowledge. But, if you're using it for a reference for a school project, you should back up any information which you procure from Wikipedia with a secondary and corraborating source which enjoys greater academic acceptance.

It's excellent as a starting point for info and if you just want to find out a bit about a subject. But if you want to go in depth or are doing a report you can't base it all on what you see there.
