Considering how well the rest of the "caper" was planned there is a strong likelihood that, not only did he survive, but that he escaped and threw the police and FIB completely off his trail.
By leaving some of his haul behind at his drop zone he made the authorities assume that he was killed.
As soon as it was assumed that he has been killed the search was scaled down.
If the police hadn't believed that DB Cooper had died, they would have continued their search.
It's the same with Osama Bin Laden. If the USA believes him to be dead then the search for him gets scaled down in preference to other "living" terrorists. If Osama is discovered to be alive and hiding in a cave somewhere then the region would be flooded with troops again searching for him.
DB Cooper was a very bright guy. As everything else about his robbery was done to perfection, there is no reason to suppose that he was killed.

Some people, including me, believe that after he got off the plane, he escaped into the woods and then across the boarder. That is if the fall did not kill him. It really bithers me that some1 would go through all that, just 4 money. I mean, all the money, the cops say it must have weighed at least 50-60 pounds, along with him, and the parachute, and his survivle equipment. Plus, he did it in pitch black darkness. I kinda wanna try!!!, just without all the cops, n stuff.

They found the money, it was all scattered up and down a river in the woods, some kid found it. So that probably means he didnt survive the jump.
