I heard they broke up because there was a guy that was stalking Hilary duff and threatening her and she wanted to go to the police or something like that and Joel madden didn't take it seriously.And i heard that he and Nicole Richie are dating.
F.Y.I Nicole Richie was taking to jail for drunk driving and she was driving the opposite direction on the road on the car pool lane and they weighed her and she was 85 pounds and she told the police officer that she was 100 pounds.

Supposedly Hillary Duff broke up with Joel Madden because of the eight year age difference, I think I read it on yahoo music news... and he's with that slut Nicole Richie now, she got arrested on Monday for driving drunk.. check out perezhilton.com

I heard the same thing and read the Nicole thing in People magazine-supposably Joel is buds with Nicoles ex Adam and ask permission to date her. Why him and Hillary broke up, I have no clue.

i agree with sarah 1988, apparently Hilary was creeped out about this guy stalking her and sending death threats, but joel dint want to create a big scene and hype about the whole thing cos he thought it was a joke and would pass away soon, so she was pissed at him for not taking it seriously and they seemed to be arguing and fighting a lot since the incident, thts what led to the split. and i dont think nicole richie is dating him.

Thats old news now. Joel is not going out with Nicole but I'm not sure why they broke up...apparently they were only pretending to be a happy couple in the first place.
