Why do so many people desire sex?

It is apparent that this is a topic in most of the industrial world - that so many people (society in general) focuses much of their efforts on acquiring sexual encounters. Why is this?
What is so great about the intertwining of flesh?
What is so appealing about it that isn't like anything else one could experience?

well i believe it is a natural drive inside of us, that we desire such as food

I'm from Mexico and I think exactly the same, why is it so important? it's good,but I think there are better things to think about.
