I broke my 2nd & 3rd toe.. Do I tape them together? Or do I tape them to other toes, like my 3rd to my 4th? Hmm, a lot of numbers, but help? Right now, I'm taping my 2 broken toes together.. it seems to be okay..?

I split my big toe (bone) down the middle and my 2nd toe over the summer. I had to have a special walking boot.
And my mom keeps saying that she knows they're broken (I know it, too..) and that she doens't want to pay all that $$ to get a x-ray..

I agree with the first answer that you should see a doctor.

But in the mean time, you'd generally want to tape a broken digit to one that's not broken. Unless the breaks line up with each other, taping the two broken toes together would probably still effectively hold them in place, but it's still better to tape them to one that's not broken (so 3rd to 4th and 2nd to 1st).

Fixing a broken bone that didn't heal properly would cost a lot more than an x-ray. While the most likely outcome is simply that your toes will be crooked with then heal, which is purely a cosmetic issue, there are complications that would require medical attention. However, if you go to a doctor you do still have the right to refuse a given test (like an x-ray) so you could still have a doctor take a look at it without having to pay for an x-ray.

You should probably go see your doctor and have your toes x-rayed. You don't know from looking at the outside of your toes what kind of break it is (it could be a hairline fracture, or a complete break), and the bones may need to be realigned to heal properly. If the break is bad enough, you might even end up with a special walking boot for a little while. I worked with someone who broke his finger and tried taping it himself, and it didn't heal right, and now his finger is permanently crooked.

Yes you should tape them together and to the adjacent healthy toes. And yes you should get them looked at by a doctor. Your mom needs to re-examine her priorities and realize that your health is worth far more than money. Improperly treated broken toes can lead to even worse problems like bunions and hammertoes which can be even more expensive to correct in the future.

Ok scince you're tight on money, tape the second toe to your third toe. then get a popsicle stick thingy that the doctors have and tape your big toe to it.

You need to go get them x-rayed first to be sure they are in the proper position before you tape them. The doc may need to "set" the bones in the proper place so go get an x-ray first.

That is something that, if not treated properly, can lead to problems in walking. Tell your mom to stop being a jerk and get this taken care of properly!!!
