The quality of the video is not pretty to watch if you want to do that. The cd can only hold around 700 mb of data, a dvd can hold more. Anyway all you need is a dvd recorder and it will record both cd and dvd. Connect your vhs player into the recoder and hit the record button. It's pretty much the same principle as the vhs player.

Do you really want to record on a CD. I think you mean DVD.
Get a VHS and DVD-recorder combo unit. You can put tape in and record directly onto a DVD. That's the easiest way.
The other is to ship it off to a place that does the service for you (I guess that's really the easiest-- 8-) )
PC's will capture video too but that's harder to deal with since you'll need the right software and hardware to do it.

VHS/DVD recorder combo unit would be the easiest, other then that you'd need to get a video capture card for your PC, hook that up to the VCR and then burn it to a dvd when you're done.

I assume you mean dvd.
You can connect your vcr a/v outputs to on of the inputs on a dvd recorder.
If you don't already have a dvd recorder, I suggest you get a vcr/dvd recorder unit. This will allow you to record in high speed mode...
