Suggestion: write about the profound changes to the US steel industry, much of which was located in Pennsylvania until the late 20th Century. The Monongahela Valley near Pittsburgh, the Lehigh Valley, and a few other places made millions of tons of steel per year, and much of that went away between 1977 and 2003.
