I agree with you that he'll sign with the Muts. Texas I think has learned their lesson about overpaying free agents ie A-rod. Ny has been positioning itself to make a pitch after everyone else has. They're playing a wait and see type game.
One last thing - You can never count the Yankees out.

I sure hope so i am a huge mets fan and what they need is a good left handed arm in the rotation. But Zito and Gagne both have the same agent, Scott Boris. And sense Boris as already talked to the Rangers about Gange they might have a better chance. Gagne cant stay healthy so Zito wont want to go there just beacuse he is in the bullpen.

I agree, Gagne has been a great closer overall but I don't know if this is enough to attract good starting pitchers to the Rangers when there are better teams who also would like to sign those same pitchers (and are willing to pay alot of money); especially Zito.

zito's relationship with rick petterson is too great for him to pass up. at the end of the day it will come down to dollars, but if the mets decide to match whatever the rangers offer him, then i think that zito will decide to pitch for the mets. another reason is that in new york zito will be playing in a large market team, something he wanted to do his whole career.

The Rangers have made him an offer and I hope he decides to take it. The Rangers new manager is his old coach from the As. The Rangers pitching needs help so he'll instantly be a leader. I think it'll be a good deal for both sides if he signs.

Zito and his agent Boras have to bring down their asking price in order for the Mets to sign him

Everyone is getting worked up over Barry Zito. He is an average pitcher at best, so why everyone is gaga over him is beyond me. Whomever he signs with will end up over paying a good, but not outstanding, athlete.

Gagnes effectiveness is not a lock. He is recovering from an injury and surgery. Should not be a huge factor.
