Absolutely! He is the preacher (Reverend Cleophus James) in the beginning who helps Jake see the light..."were on a mission from God"

Yes he played Reverend Cleophus James he also played the same character in Blues Brothers 2000 and has an acting credit for Rocky IV and Holy Man the 1998 comedy that starred Eddie Murphy.

Yes! He was in both the Blues Brothers and that sequel they made, Blues Brothers 2000. He was the Reverend in that church where they were dancing and hopping around and celebrating like crazy. You know, when Jake sees the light, which is a great scene, and realizes, "The BAND!"

He was the Preacher. Right after Jake gets released from Prison, they go see Cab Calloway at the Orphanage. Calloway sends him to the Church where James Brown is Preaching, and Jake gets a revelation to get the band back together.

In the 1st film he's the preacher at the triple rock church where they sing "The Old Landmark" (and that's a very young Chaka Khan as the main soloist of the choir),
he's also the preacher in the tent in the 2nd film.
he sings 2 numbers including "please don't go" at the end of the movie.

yes, he was in Blues Brothers 2000 and played Rev. James. He was not in the original though.
