I think you should do anything you feel up to. Age shouldn't stop you.

I've ridden most of my life. It's truly not difficult unless you're afraid of the horse. Make sure you're comfortable before you do anything. If you aren't, the horse will sense it and you'll have a rough time getting him to listen to you.

Definitely go for it. I know a plenty of adults, even sixty year old women, who learn how to ride a horse for the first time. But for everyone who's saying horse back riding is EASY, they're wrong. Horse back riding is, in my opinion, one of the most difficult sports in the world, mentally and physically. Training your body to carry the right body position, and training your mind to efficiently communicate with the horse is a wonderful challenge that allows you to escape from the real world. Horse back riding is such a rewarding sport, no matter what discipline you do.

Children may learn to ride a horse quicker and easier because they have no fear. I know my mom is always afraid of falling off because she's more likely to break bones than a youngster. This really shouldn't be a problem if you learn on a trustworthy horse to gain your confidence on.

So I say go for it, but it's your call. Good luck if you decide to take lessons!

If you feel the urge then go for it, I would love to learn how to ride a horse, but I'm a bit heavy (nearly 14 stone) so it's difficult to find horses that can carry me locally, however if i get the chance I'll give it a go.
As far as age goes you're never to old to learn although it becomes more difficult to adapt as you get older, so learning is harder work also as you get older, you become more aware of potential dangers, and so when you are attempting something new, especially something with an element or risk, it takes longer to gain confidence in your own abilities, but give it a go, it looks good fun

I suppose its no big problem. You can learn to do anything if u really are determined (and at any age). So go for it. Its better to learn something before its too late, even if you feel embarrased. And horse riding can be really fun once u get the hang of it ..so just start learning right away and don't think of giving up!!

If you are not afraid of horses I think it is a great idea. If you are afraid of horses forget it you are more likely to get hurt if they scare you. Take riding lessons if you are unsure of yourself around horses. They can be fun but dangerous if you do not know what you are doing.

If Grannies can go parachuting, I'm sure you'll manage to ride a horse. A most enjoyable experience, both of them.

No. Its much easier to learn as an adult instead of being forced as a child.
