Actually, the lights we use cost 1 1/2 cents an hour to operate according to our electric utility provider. Since I have 14 strands of lights it is easy to calculate how much it is costing in electricity. It is the older strands of lights and decorations that really zap up the energy. Thankfully, the people who go all out only do so once a year. I enjoy that a lot more than I do driving by stores, office buildings and warehouses that are lit up like Christmas when they are closed!

The Christmas lights used now are extremely low wattage. They probably use less than using your hair dryer every day for one week.

It's only for one month and they are beautiful.

they allow it because the electric company makes more money.... you seem conservation minded... tell me, do you turn off the water while you are brushing your teeth??? Keep in mind that most of our electric power comes from water... and it's water we're running out of, not electricity.
