I just did a FirstResponse preg. test and got a negative result.
However, my breasts are unbelievably tender, i'm very emotional and cry at anything, i'm urinating almost twice as often as normal, and i am bloated (which i am not normally bloated during pms).
I typically start my period on which would have been Sunday, but sometimes I'm as late as what would be tomorrow. So i figured taking a test today would be ok. Should I get a blood test done and how soon are they accurate?

My positive blood test was approximately 6-7 days after conception. I was having a long cycle but didn't know it at the time. The numbers and ultrasound later verified it was just later implantation. When we backdated, I figured out I got pregnant on the 6th or 7th, and my positive blood test was on the 14th. My period would have come around the 20th or 21st had I not been pregnant.

My numbers were only 18 at that time. This would have been about a week before my period would have happened.

There might not be enough HCG in your system to show up on the first response. You can take a blood test, or just wait 48 hours and take another test, or take a more sensitive test, like the walmart Equate, which has been shown to detect levels under 20. (it did for me, too)

there are 2 different types of blood tests. One that just says you are pregnant. The other actually gives your HCG numbers.

Are you trying to get pregnant?? Because sometimes, i know it sounds weird, but your body can do tricks on you.....
If you want to take a blood test to double check if you are pregnant, go for it! There is nothing wrong with that, and it couldn't hurt.
Maybe your body is going through a change and you are feeling different pms symtoms... you never know!
Or you could be pregnant and the test just didn't show it....
I would go for the blood work if I were you..... like I said, it won't hurt :) If you were supposed to have your period on Sunday, then the bloodwork would be accurate if you had it done now.

Good luck!

Usually a week in advance of your period is a safe time to have blood work done. So this is certainly a good time for a good reading.

However, there are no symptoms of pregnancy that are different from PMS, and you can develop new one, and to new severities at any time and for no reason.

But certainly get blood work done if you're unsure, or wait a week and test again.

You can take an at home pregnancy test 19 days after the day you think you became pregnant.

A blood test will show if you are pregnant or not 7 days following conception and is 100% accurate because blood dosen't lie.

Blood tests can be done as soon as 6-8 days after ovulation according to this website http://www.4woman.gov/faq/pregtest.htm.
