some of those are sort of pop punk but with a rock edgge

There are none. "Modern punk rock" is not punk rock at all, it is purely commercialized, corprate rubbish- the very ideals that true punk rock stands against. Punk rock died somewhere in the early to mid 80's. For true punk rock, turn to the old school.

They split awile ago but, Fugazi. There really isn't any new punk, so I'd recomend picking up some Clash, Ramones, Dead Kennedys, etc.
