Don't rising signs have a lot to do with the combinations?

Question

I am a libra my ex is a gemini we are supposed in theory to get along wonderfully.But! a big but sometimes we do get along only as great friends, known each other over 10 years now as such. However my rising sign is Leo I can be a bit deep, unshallowlike and intellectual very firm in my decisions (definately not a typical Libra). The ex is a Gemini with an Aries rising this has caused conflict as I really don't like to be controlled or dictated to or shallow games. Having said that I love stimulating conversation and good friendship so long as it stays like that. Has anyone else had similar experience ?

No your rising sign is actually a facade. Its the face you put toward the world. What screws most people up is usually one of 2 things.Their incompatible moons, or squares in their combined
7th house. the seventh house is the love, marriage house.

Gemini with Aries rising & Libra with Leo rising? Libra is opposite to the Aries rising, but I have not found that should cause much trouble. Gemini Libra and Leo get along fine.
I am guessing that the real problem is somewhere else in your charts.

weirdest combination is having something triple like gemini moon, sun and ascendant for example Kate Winslet who's a triple Libra and Zooey Deschanel who's a triple Cap.. your sun moon combination indicates a full moon in cancer so definitly a lot of feeling, while your sun gives you determination and competence. having sun and moon in oposite signs can make a difficult life and instability, but whatever one luminary is lacking, the other will make up for. For example capricorns are often accused of being unfeeling, but you can call upon your cancer moon to give you sympathy/empathy. your sun and moon are on the parental axis of the zodiac (cap father, cancer mother) so you'll probably make a good parent someday :) Gemini rising are very intellectual people, usually goodlooking ;)

Your natal ascendant is supposed to have a lot to do with how others see you, interact with you, and interpret the things you do: at least early on in life

Hence a Virgo with Aries rising might seem confident and almost recklessly outgoing while feeling quite shy and overly analytical.

Now, if you believe in astrology, there's a lot more to take into consideration aside from your sun sign and ascendant: there is placement of the planets in your natal chart, their aspects, their current transits through the houses and in aspect to each other.

Then there are progressions, solar returns, lunar returns, and then there are various composite techniques (including progressions, etc), and if you get really into it there is where you live (astrocartographic influeces).

Then there is psychology:)

I like to veiw rising signs as the stage and the planets as the actors. Your rising sign is important because it shows which houses are affected and such, but as far as personality goes I dont think it has much affect. I have a Virgo Rising and I'm nothing like a Virgo, as a matter of fact I dont like virgos they are very nit-picky
