Its a compressed format like zip (winzip) but better because it compresses more. Go do a google search for winrar. You need that to uncompress the rar file you have.

A RAR file is a compressed file or set of files (like ZIP). Use AlZip to view it AND many other compressed file types (zip, ace, rar, arj, cab, etc etc etc).
