I am learning silversmithing and jewelery making, and I am thinking of starting my own business making one of a kind pieces. I wanted to know if people would be more interested in something that you know is unique but might be more expensive than something you can buy at the store which isn't unique but is cheaper.

I would be more interested in buying the unique, one of a kind pieces of jewelery even though it might cost more. Owning something that is one of a kind adds to its value...one might appreciate it more just because it is special/unique.

I totally prefer unique pieces (although I ahve cheap stuff, too), so handmade is best. However, as you said, it's pricier than mass produced stuff. If it's nice, though, people will spend the money. I would.

wow that could be any stores in the mall, even the cute little stands that sell cute jewelry. i only like to buy earrings though, and most of my necklaces besides the beaded ones are from either tiffany or helzbergs, that's only because the skin around my neck is very sensitive that i'd get really bad rash from wearing the sterling silver ones.

i like unique jewelry but can't always afford it so once in a while it is nice. i knowing there are places i can go to get unique jewelry if the price was right that's all i would buy. sadly hate price is rarely right.

I like both, but it's really neat when you have something that is one of a kind. :o) I would definitely pay a little more to have unique jewelry.
