I'm 16 weeks along and haven't gotten an ultrasound, yet. I (finally) made an appointment today.

Not at all. Ultrasounds are usually done between 12 and 16 weeks, unless you have family history of birth defects and/or over the age of 35. With you being 16 wks now, you have a great chance of determining the sex of your baby should you want to know, and clearer visibility of any health concerns.

Good luck to you and your new family......

Yes, it is bad to be this far along and not have an ultrasound. You should have the ultrasound the next appointment after you found out that you was pregnent.

No, If you are not a High Risk pg then they may not do one until 16-20 weeks and that is when you can tell the sex of the baby.

According to my OBGYN @ 16 weeks is when they usually schedule your first one to get an accurate due date and check the size of the baby. I got my first one at 16 weeks. I thought your doctor usually scheduled that anyway, not something u did when u felt like it because the info from that first one at 16 weeks has vital info.

16 weeks is too early to determine sex. they usually do that around 22 weeks or more.

It's alright to not have had one yet. I know that not all insurances cover such early ultrasounds, and not all doctors recommend one. I know my insurance with my first son covered two throughout the pregnancy, while this pregnancy, my insurance only covers one. Check with your insurance to be sure it'll be covered!! Good luck!!
