The torso is the widest spot on the enemy and is easier to hit than the head or legs.

Shooting the legs will bring the enemy to its knees and it will take it a few seconds to get back up, making it easier to hit.

acctually yes but it doesn't work all the time. but if you aim for the back chin and the front chin they start falling but they still move. they easiest way it to hit there hip and their joints will split and fall then crawl.
