if you have a grand am and it is a 2004 then it is absolutely the gas pedal. Turn key to on position make sure all dash lights are lit. Then press the gas pedal ALL the way to the floor 3 times within 5 seconds. Some times people have aftermarket floor mats and they are thick which doesnt allow the pedal to go all the way down. If it doesnt work again try taking out the floor mat and see if it works then. There is no button in the fuse panel on the 2004 it is in earlier years that it is in there.

Try the gas pedal again sometimes it take 4 or 5 tries. Key on engine off gas pedal to the floor 3 or 5 times. On some of the newer GM you have to go into the DIC drivers Control Centre to reset it. Scroll through the menu to see if there is an oil life reset. Last it could be in the radio Key on engine off radio off press and hold the tuner button in for 30 seconds . Again at this point you will need to scroll through the menu to find the right reset. Sorry can not remember how to scroll through it maybe the 1 and 2 channel presets. Hope I helped and good luck

Provided you have changed the oil and the filter, it may just take a couple of days. Do consult your owners manual. If it recommends changing the air filter at the same time, it may not go off until you do. If you took it somewhere to be changed, are you sure they actually changed it?
