Do you mean in the USA? I'd say it's "similar", but not the same. Some progress has been made. The play was written in the late 50s, and, since then, the Civil Rights Act and the Civil Rights Movement in general have caused some significant changes.
There's still a lot of mindless prejudice around - perhaps there always will be. But slowly, very slowly, people's feelings and attitudes are becoming more rational.

I'd say yes, it is....but....racism is not all about being black or white anymore. The great melting pot has truly taken on a new sort of racism that crosses borders of skin colorinto country of origin . So, in short, not the same, but, yes, racism is alive and well in the US.

i feel that it is beyond blacks and whites. It has bleed into other ethnic groups and people are not as blunt as they used to be. So there are closet racist, but at the same time i believe that everyone is racist to some extent. so to answer your question, yes and no, depending on how you look at it.
