I was just wondering how water purfication tablets work. Do you just put them inside undrinkable water and let them do what they are supposed to?

Water purification tablets kill of bugs, bacteria and paracitic worms but they don't filter out dirt, metals or solids.
They are ok to use wirh spring,pond or well water where the sediment has been trapped or sunk to the bottom.

Most water purification tablets have traces of iodine. Three drops of iodine (most bottles come with an eye dropper) will purify a canteen a water. This kills micro-organism. And in trace amounts is not harmful to humans. After using the tablet, shake well and let it sit for about an hour or longer. Always read the instructions as some product may be different.

Used as directed the tablet is safe. However, if you are getting the water from a nuclear power plant it won't matter. The product is meant to kill or neutralize specified organisms or materials. If still hesitant, check the label and the info on water in the area you are going to if you can. For emergency purposes, I have full confidence my water tablets can save my life/health. Also the miltary has issued water tablets to all servicemen for decades. Even salt tablets didn't last that long and they were only salt.
