Yes and they do depending on age and if the testimony is actually needed (could be documented by social workers already).

In my state, if there is an official investigation, the child is always interviewed by an official either with the police or Child Protective Services or both. If the child is credible, then official action is usually taken and most of the time the child isn't required to testify since most interviews are taped to spare the child the further injury of having to go to court. Most testimony is required only in extreme cases where the child is teen aged and can withstand cross examination by a defense lawyer. Usually children under teenage years aren't in court to testify except if a judge wants to know how they feel about being placed with a relative, which one, etc.

Yes, children should be allowed to testify. If not for them, the person who is abusing them could potentially walk free, and hurt the child or possibly kill them. Yes, it is tramatic, but I'd rather see a tramautized child than visit a grave of the same child given back to the abuser to hurt them again.

confident, you're accountable. We used to stay in an area crammed with brats (welfare little ones, drug/alcoholic mum and dad - be conscious: welfare did no longer make the little ones brats, the mother and dad made the little ones brats). Our abode had an alley in the back of it. all the homes on the two aspects of the alley had fences with gates. Our gate had a hook on it, style of like the metallic clasp which you utilize to hook a canines leash to its collar. In different words, to open it, you had to apply your thumb to eliminate the clasp, then improve the lever as much as open the gate. Our 2 canines would desire to no longer try this themselves. those little ones have been throwing rocks and sticks over the fence at our larger canines. Then they desperate it could be relaxing to open all the gates down the full alley. Our canines, and a super type of others, have been given out, yet ours bit between the little ones on his rear end. the mother and dad spoke of as the police, we've been ticketed and ordered to pass to court docket. We confirmed as much as court docket to combat the charge. the different relatives under no circumstances confirmed up, so we've been brushed off. Had they confirmed up, we nevertheless might probable have been discovered accountable even nevertheless the newborn (or one among his acquaintances) had to pass contained in the direction of the artwork of unlatching our gate. Had those brats no longer touched our gate, and yet nevertheless teased our canines, he does no longer are transforming into to be bit. The police observed the newborn and stated he had a scratch on his rear, and no pores and skin replaced into broken. From my attitude, the newborn discovered a effective lesson: do no longer mess with unusual canines. i do no longer opt for the newborn injured heavily, yet a scratch on the rear isn't a existence threatening condition. existence does not assure which you will under no circumstances get harm in any situation. Minor hurts are the place you study instructions which will help ward off you from getting significant hurts.
