The space shuttle cannot reach the Moon at all. It is too heavy and does not carry enough rocket propellant. The Saturn rocket was bigger than the Shuttle and the Apollo space craft was smaller and lighter, so an Apollo space craft launched on a Saturn rocket could reach the Moon in 3 days. But the shuttle can never leave low Earth orbit. It simply does not have that capability.

Unfortunately the space shuttle could not carry enough fuel to get to the moon as it is designed for low orbit missions. The saturn five rocket used on the moon landings took approx three and a half days to get there.

Until NASA have the technology to actually send a shuttle to the moon then I think this is an unanswerable question - lets face it they never went to the moon anyway - because if they had - why with all the technology today have we not sent man back there - that is of course if man ever went.
