Hi, I have a 1998 integra GS-R with 130k miles. for the past few months I have been noticing that when I accelerate hard the car hesitates. It will still accelerate but it feels like a hiccup (or severage) during acceperation. This happens at all RPM's. If I accelerate slowly the car will smoothly accelerate to redline... It only hapens when I floor it or give the car alot of gas. Happens in all gears and in all RPM ranges. I dont think its th clutch because the tires will still spin if I drop the clutch from a stop.
I think it's the fuel pump but I'm not sure and dont want to spend the money changing it if I dont have to.
Thanks!

Forgot to add.
I changed the timing belt as well as water pump and all other belts 2 years ago.
Also changed fuel and air filter recently
The valves havent been adjusted in quite a while but I didnt think the valves would cause the problem. it only happens at wide open throttle in every RPm in every gear. It also seems to be getting worse and worse.
BTW.. I dont race around anymore. Just want the stupid car fixed.

the fuel pump could prob be replaced, it wouldn't hurt. and becasue you are having problems all the time, open or closed loop, your O2 sensor is probably not the culprit, i would change your spark plugs, and spark plug wires, i a 99% sure that this particular vehicle is a DIS system, so dont bother replacing the module just yet. start with the spark plugs and spark plug wires. however, with 130k on the vehicle an all around tune up may be necessary- replace all of the folowing if it has not been done recently-- Air filter, Mass air flow sensor, upstream and downstream O2 sensors, PCV valve, and fuel filter. all of these abvailable at your local auto zone or parts supply store, and all are easily replaced by any individual bearing some sort of auto motive knowledge. most parts stores will even have tools such as O2 wrenches for you to borrow. GOOD LUCK!!

You could have the garage test the fuel pressure at the fuel rail or have a compression or leak down test performed to determine if it is an fuel, compression, or ignition problem.

I would replace the simplest components that lead to loss of horsepower.
Starting with a tune up.
Spark plugs, Plug wires, Distributor cap and distributor rotor.

If these do not fix the problem
Replace the fuel filter.

I dont think it is the fuel pump because the pump is running obviously. But could be if the pump isnt building enough pressure for wide open throttle.

If you have a leak down test performed and It comes up leaking, Your valves may need adjusted at that milage.

I also reccomend that you have your timing belt and water pump replaced while you have this other work done if you havent already.

you probably need a full tune up as per the owners manually it is time for that with 130k. the spark plugs could make the car hesistate if they are mis-firing. you could also stop driving so fast :) but i assume you bought the car to race it.

Poor fuel flow.

Pump, or filter.
