I have a large collection of ornaments, some dating back from my grandmother's tree and about 60+ years old. Do you have any real oldies that you cherish? Or a particular ornament that means a lot to you. Why?

I am soooo glad I asked this question! The stories so far are really terrific and many very heart-warming.
Mawma, your daughter is smiling for sure!

I've got ornaments dating throughout my Military Service Career, back to my Parents Time (and that was the 40s), and some even older than that ... but given my age -- it is not unusual to have accumulated ornaments from many different locations and decades.

There are a few from my great grandmother's tree that are around 100 years old. All but one are now partially broken (they are made of ridiculously thin and weak glass) but my mom sometimes hangs a broken one on the tree anyway. There are a few from my moms childhood in the 40s and 50s that we put on the tree too. There's no meaning behind any one of those ornaments other than they've gone on the tree every year and it's a tradition that my mom doesn't want to break.

We have a lot of ornaments that belonged to my grandmother. She always "redecorated" the tree after my mother did because she was a perfectionist (she made sure every piece on tinsel was the same length). We have several bulb ornaments that are from world war II.

None that old but I have a couple of little red elf ornaments that are from my childhood so they are over 30 years old. I also have a musical merry-go-round that plays Jingle Bells and has 2 little elves on it. I love it! Every time I see it I feel happy and warm. It reminds me of being a child and the feeling of the season.

My mother has some ornaments that belonged to my great grandmother. They're probably around 50 or 60 years old. Some are glass. They're very pretty

The Baby's First Christmas ornaments my Twin Daughters got when they were six weeks old from our Landlord and His wife, they are now deceased(The people who gave them to the Girls) They came across the yard in a snowstorm to bring those to them the night Before Christmas in 1983,it was a special time. Thanks for bringing back that memory Merry Christmas

No. Unfortunately I do not have any older ornaments on the tree. Only new ones because we got a new tree this year.

The oldset one is dated 1976. My fiance got it in grade school. The one I like the most is a little girl on a swing with a kitten in her lap. I think I have had it since I was about 3 years old and I just always liked it.

Mine are only a year old, but my favorite is a little jingle bell with a baby's head that says Baby's First Christmas. It was for my daughters first christmas last year. I plan to get her a new one each year, so when she is grown she will have a collection to take with her.

I have some crystal icicles from my great grandmother that date back to about 1850. They are lovely with the clear lights!
