It doesnt matter. My mum always gave us one each and got us to open them at the same time to be fair but it means you dont get to see the others faces and i didnt see everything that the others got. The youngest usually gets the most excited so i would let them open their first one then the next person their first one and so on then onto the 2nd present one at a time etc but thats a personal thing but then my boyfriend is too impatient to wait! So really it is totally down to you how you want to do it.

The youngest, the kids open the presents first so the parents can watch and see their expressions.

I've always had the youngest person in the home open the first gift -- mainly because it was a family tradition dating back to my grandparents and my parents.

I usually play "Santa" and I usually go youngest to oldest. But sometimes I like to mix it up and just give them out in a random order. Just because.

Old German tradition - We hang a pickle on the tree and the one to find the pickle gets to open the first present (I think, originally, the tradition was that the finder of the pickle gets to open a special additional present, but we just got lazy and gave them the opportunity to open the first one instead)

In my family, often children start opening and the adults wait until all of their's has been piled up. After all, Children are usually more excited in the first place, and in the second, it makes little sense to constrain their joy.
