My husband just went through a surgery that was supposed to be for Alser (the doctory saw in CAT scan). but nothing was there so they took out some dead tissues, kept him open for few days and said. "Oh we believe it was pancriatitus". and now he has to stay home for another 3 weeks.
Does some one know a good medical lawyer that i can use in NJ? i dont think the surgery was necessary and they did it about just 5 hours after he went to emergency dept.

as far as the concent for goes, my husband signed it but he was in so much pain and they gave him very strong medication. the doctors didnt let me read or sign any documents even though they consider my income as part of "house hold income" while applying for charity. Doesnt make sence to me.

North or South NJ? The test is whether the doctor's care fell below the acceptable level of care. Based upon what you've stated, it doesn't sound like you have much of a claim. He consented to the surgury beforehand based upon the information then available, once someone is opened up, you get a lot more information. If the information available would lead a reasonable doctor to recommend surgery for the ulcer (I think you are referring to an ulcer otherwise I am not familiar with a medical condition known as Alser) then there was no negligence. Further, it seems like he was treated for pancreatitis which can be even more serious than an ulcer if left untreated. I hope you seriously reconsider before seeing an attorney.

If you signed all the paperwork allowing the surgery and didn't get a 2nd opinion, you're probably out of luck.

As to finding a lawyer, here's what I found on-line at yellowpages.com
