What I've found is:
It had been used on "Gears of War" game launch trailer.
It has been a xmas hit.
I'm not sure about this but I think first name of the singer is Michael.

gary jules. you can by the single from itunes or it's on the donnie darko soundtrack or his full length LP. it's a cover of an old Tears for Fears song from 1982. check out that version too.
