I'm with you on this, Steve.
During Christmas, people are encouraged to spend all their money and stuff just to throw it away a week later--how dumb is that?
Our kids are lied to, and told that a fat old fool with a beard is going to slide down the chimney at any minute and hand out a sackful of gifts...give me break.
Christmas is for fools and fantasists and should be banned
Hang on. There's somebody coming down my chimney...

You obviously have lost all faith. Although you are right about one thing...Christmas in the United Stated has been turned into just another commercial holiday. Just another day where corporate America can guilt consumers into getting their mate a better gift than what their mate is getting them. But you're forgetting the real meaning of Christmas. Its the celebration of the birth of our Savior. If you ever get a chance to go to Mexico or some other catholic based country during Christmas I recommend that you do so. It is one of the most beautiful experiences you will ever live. go to where the people are still humble and God-fearing, they will teach you what Christmas is really about and the traditions that come with it.

Christmas is not a waste of time and resources. It is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ our savior. There are just people out there who try to make Christmas a commercial thing so much that many people have very little if any idea of the meaning of Christmas. If people would celebrate Christmas properly, then we wouldn't have problems. Giviing gifts is very good, but we need to know and remember the meaning of giving instead of commericializing it.

Okay lets see! No I dont think its a waste of time. I do believe its for the children but i can honestly say it tickles me to death to see the looks on peoples faces as they unwrap gifts! I do believe its gotten wayyyy too commercial! its all gimme gimme gimme! By time u r done shopping u r still paying it off all year long until the following Xmas and then u get to start all over again! I think its harmless to give our children fun and something to look forward too during the year they are growing such asd santa-toothe fairy- easter bunny and so on. I never hated my parents for it@ most dont. But I do agree with the finanacial part!

Christmas is deffinately NOT a waste of time! People who spend too much money and buy too many things on Christmas just shouldn't do that. I mean yeah if you have a loved one, it's nice to buy presents for them but going out and spending all your money is just stupid. You have to know your limits when it comes to money, you could see how much money you can spend and just make a budget. Alot of companies make money from selling toys and things but that's really not what christmas is about man! Christmas brings joy and families together! I LOVE spending christmas time with my family, I really don't care much about the gifts, I love spending that christmas time with my family. You should enjoy christmas with someone you love.

No, I do not think that Christmas is a waste of time and resources. Without Christmas what would this world be like. On the "santa" and the child thing, just tell your kids the truth about "Santa" but tell them that it is ok to still hold the spirit of "Santa" within them. For, this is the magic of Christmas for children.

I look at the people of the world who try to be more generous and kind during this season. I see families who try to at least talk and visit ( even if unsuccessful) . I see more people in church, more people smiling, more people trying at least a little bit to embrace the spirit of love. No, its not always successful, yes, it does get commercialized and abused, but its not in the succeeded but in instilling the desire to be the better people we wish we could be that makes the entire holiday season worthwhile.

Have you not heard of it being a kinder, gentler season and good will toward your fellow man? If you don't like that go out and help at a homeless shelter and see how bad it really can get for people and one more thing for you to think about: Every child should have a Merry Chirstmas!
PUT THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh yeah have the merriest of christmas's! :-D
