My name is Alana, and I like it very much because it is unusual without sounding made-up. However, I do have a problem with it getting mispronounced a lot. Many people pronounce it A-laa-na or A-lay-na, when it is actually pronounced A-lah-na. It really used to bug me as a kid, but now I just sort of take it in stride. Also, I used to hate how I could never find my name on little personalized keychains or mini license plates and stuff like that when I was a kid. Even now, I can very rarely ever find my name on one of those things, which I think is stupid because I know at least another 10 girls named Alana, but I have never once met anyone named Zahra, which is actually one of the names that they do have personalized things for. Bottom line: I think Alana's a pretty name, and I'm probably going to use it as one of my kids' middle names when I have kids, as a tribute to my own narcissism, but also because I really like it.

My name is Brieanne (Bree-anne for those with pronounciation issues).

I used to despise it. Now I don't mind it, I have finally "grown into" my own name and can handle the fact that it is different, because I am "different" HA!.

This is why I am very keen on people spelling names properly and not going totally nuts with their kids names. Keep in mind that I had this wacky name in 1978 and grew up with it during the Sara/Jessica 80s......it was a tough handle to bear but I do believe that whatever you name your child they become (why I don't condone "stripper" names!) and it is key to get that name right.

Oh, and try to find "Brieanne" ANYWHERE they have engraved stuff... my lifes goal is to find something, somewhere in a store pre-made with my name on it. I dont care what it is or how much it costs I am buying it!!!

My name is Caitlin. I really like my name a lot, but I'm old enough that I had it before it was so popular. Growing up there wasn't ever another Caitlin even in my schools. I think it's ridiculous how many people have this name now, and even more ridiculous how many ways there are to spell it (some not making any phonetic sense). My middle name is Erika (my oma's name), and I think it really flows well with Caitlin.

i don't love it, but the older i get the more i like it...when i was younger i hated it.

my name is joellen
my name has been mispelled and mispronounced my whole life.
it used to bother me all the time when i was a kid b/c it made me feel different. i wasn't jennifer or allison, who never had to speak up and correct a teacher or a prospective employer. i had to get a voice at a young age or sometimes muddle through the situation referred to as the wrong name.
kind of sucked sometimes.

however, the older i've gotten and the bolder i've gotten the easier it is and i don't mind correcting people anymore. i, also, don't mind as much if they get it wrong. it happens, but as a kid i took it personally. it actually hurt my feelings a bit.

anywhoooo.....
there was one incident with my name that actually hurt my feelings recently. i had just married my husband and his sister got us a gift. it was a plaque with a poem about marriage on it. at the top was our names and our wedding date.
my name was mispelled. i was so hurt b/c my new sister-in-law and i were friends for quite some time and even worked together. we emailed each other all the time and i always signed my emails. i guess she just isn't that observant.

well, there's a long answer to your question!!

take care and happy holidays!

I love my name because I was the only one in my school or anywhere that I knew of that had my name. My name is Celina, the spelling is beautiful, the meaning is really beautiful its just overall a unique, gorgeous name that I love, But its getting a bit popular now which sucks.

I use to hate it because I'd get called Sam I am all the time, plus I was named after the TV series Bewitched(my mother loved Samantha). It has eventually grown on me and now it's just ok.

My name is Adèle and I think that it's a beautiful french name but it just doesn't fit me. I don't know why. Maybe it's because I'm the only person in the world with it.

My name is Elaine Marie Cox. I love my name. I was named after my grandmother. Not only is my name a traditional name, but you don't hear it very often anymore.

That's why I named my daughter Lillian Marie. Lillian is an older name. Plus it means purity.
