a turbo boosts the car from the results of forcing more air at a higher speed into the engine. when you use nos you inject nitrous oxide into the engine give a speed boost. both can be used at the same time but the turbocharger is better as you dont have to pay each time to fill up the nos

Well a turbo system recycles exhaust gases at high speed back into the engine to produce more horsepower. Nitros is a gas that's injected into the intake of the engine to mix with the gas to produce more horsepower. Turbo's are considered a safer solution because nitros super heats the engine and could cause some components to fail if misused.

To use the turbo simply step on the gas and it will kick in at a certain rpm. Nitros on the other hand has to be manually atcivated for the most part by pressing a button that will inject a "shot" of nitros. There are several different nitros systems available, 100 HP shots, 150, 200, 250!!!

The mechanics of both have been nicely explained by the other responders. Both methods push additional oxygen into the combustion chambers to markedly improve horsepower. Nitrous systems are typically designed for racing, especially drag racing. The nitrous tank only has a few seconds of gas available. It can only be used for a very short time before the tank runs dry and/or the engine melts. Turbos do have an application for ordinary street vehicles, over-the-road trucks and industrial engines.
