We were at Buffalo Wild Wings yesterday to watch the Bears vs Rams game. Before the game friend 1 made a bet offer of $40 to friend 2 that the Bears would shutout the Rams. Friend 2 hesitated but then decided to take it but friend 1 wouldn't shake his hand b/c it was greasy. Friend 2 wiped is hand off and friend 1 still wouldn't take it so friend 2 put a napkin on his hand and they shook but friend 1 said it was invalid because of the napkin between the hands. I need to know if the napkin cancels the bet or if it should be a legit bet.

its a bet...in contract law only a verbal agreement between the two parties is needed. in such case friend 2 could take friend 1 to court and with witness account/testimony win his money.
in man law...friend 1 is being a B!TC# and should fork out the $40

Uhm... generally you shouldn't really have to shake. If they are friends once the bet is verbally accepted the bet becomes legit. The napkin shouldn't really even come into play.

The question you must ask yourself, and your "friends", is if friend 1 would have demanded payment if he had won. It is easy to try to find loopholes, but harder to find integrity. The man proposed and made the bet, and he should own up to his word.

friend 1 is an A-SS he needs to pay up if i were F2 and he offered the bet and then renege on it he might have a can of whoop A-SS opened on him
