Through my local humane society, and community ed, there are courses and groups about how to deal with the loss of a pet. I would recommend going to one of those courses/groups. They are basically forums to talk about your pet, what you miss, how you plan on dealing with it, what others have done, etc. They are a great resource and even if they can't help you, the people who run the courses/groups should be able to point you in the direction of some more professional help. Best of luck with everything, the loss of a pet is hard to get over, but shouldn't keep you from sharing your life with another pet.

I am feeling the exact same way, I worry almost daily about one of my older dogs who is my baby. I will share a short story that is helping me to overcome the fear and dread I feel. My friend lost her 2 year old son in a swimming pool accident, it was a few years ago but she told me that she was always worrying about him getting out there, worry worry worry. So when it happened she now blames herself because she thinks that since she was thinking about it all the time that it came true. The is a great book called "The secret" and it tells us that, that what we focus our energy on will come true. So, how does this relate? Im now pushing any bad thoughts out and telling my dogs they will live forever each and everyday. I don't want to blame myself down the road thinking I brought him to an early death.

hi my name is paul, and im hoping my e-mail helps you in some way.ive learned in my past.that when we become, attached to eater,a human or pet its allways a hard, thing to let go.but also its something, we must do.I,here of people.that do everything they can,to keep the love one around.no matter what it takes.I personally, find this to be cruel.and in alot of ways selfish.its a human, instinct.the same with pets.I,love my dog in alot of the same wayes.I do my parents.this might sound odd,but relly its not.parents from the time, your brough.into this world.till the day you pass on,they are there to help.in any way they can.alot of us feel guilty wonting them to help us.so some, how a pet of some kind enters our life.and this pet becomes a big part of our life.there allways there, just waiting for you to come home.they give you thee love unconditionally.they know when something is rong, and they, let you know. that there ,there. for you.and all they ask for in returne,is our love.not like us humans.there is allways something we wont.I myself have 2 dogs.one is almost18years old.the other is 2 years old.the 18 year old is still spunky, but is starting to show signs,of hearing loss, and some sight problems, other then that she dose good.when the time comes, and she has a hard time, with her life,I will hafto do the humaine thing.put her to sleep.I will not make her suffer, because of my selflessness.us pet owners, that love our pets also know not to make them go on,just because we dont wont them to go.ill miss her verry much.but I, will also know I did the right thing.looseing something we love ,is never easy to let go of.but we also know that there in our harts also.and we allways have our, memories of them.youll make it.+right down my e-mail.and if that time comes.ill be there.for you.take care.pfsonger@sbcglobil.net

Just accept the fact that someday your pet will die, just like everything else. It's no use worrying about it, fluffy will die regardless of anything you do, enjoy your pets while you can and when they are gone don't be sad but rather reflect on the fun times you had together. And if you can't do this, then don't have pets.

You will lose pets in the future. You will out live your pets.
There's no way to really prepare yourself for that loss, just like there's no way to prepare for a human loss. You just get a pet, love them, they love you back, and deal with all of it when the time comes.
The more you love them, the more it will hurt when they leave. That's part of loving them.

As with any death, it just takes time. Mourn your loss. Celebrate their life. I don't think there's much you can do to get over your phobia. Just hope for the best and treat your animals well. Show them you love them.

oh sweetie you cant really...just enjoy the time with them and treat them well, at least you get to spend time with them while they are here right? Nothing last forever, not even a wonderful pet...I wish they would live forever too.

don't worry about the fall, enjoy the time you have with them , and don't treat them like they might not make it another day. i had this problem a while after my dog was attacked and killed by my neighbors dog. i was scared that if i got to attached to my other pets they would hurt me too much when they died. but after a while i got to realize that they will die and maybe sooner than we want them to but its worth it to enjoy their short fragile lives while you can.

You have to accept death as part of any living been, and not get depressed.
i mean I know it is painful, but you can always throw your love to a new pet
