Answer the phone, set up appointments, keep the appointment book, arrange meetings and client interviews, research tax cards and deeds, general secretarial duties. Cannot do anything that requires a license. There is also something called a Licensed Assistant that usually is a new agent learning the ropes but that only lasts until they are ready to go out on their own. Many agents have their spouses as Unlicensewd Assistants. Is this what you need for an answer.
Many states regulate what an assistant can and cannot do.

It depends on the agent you are interviewing with. But if you don't know anything about them, dress in business attire. Some agents wear suit and tie everyday, there is a top agent in my town that wears jeans and a button down shirt daily. I don't think I've ever seen him in anything else. Your goals in the RE are to learn aspects of the business, developing your communication skills, learning RE software programs, and to insure that the team is a success. (Cheesy I know, but it is a great line)

They can answer the phone. They cannot answer any questions or give out any information about houses to customers or clients. They can hold open houses. They cannot show houses. They can hand out flyers. They cannot answer the question "How much is this house?" or "How many bedrooms are in the house at 123 Main Street?"

At least in Texas, that's the law.
