not very punk-or emo but check out a band called Blanche... from detroit, MI. they are eerie dark country with a rock edge.
jack white and brendan benson appear on the song 'who's to say' from their first LP "if we can't trust the doctors" jack plays lead guitar, and brendan sings backup vocals. they have some harder edged songs though, check out the songs "what this town needs" or their cover of the gun club song "jack on fire"
