A house near us has lanterns hung on poles every 10 feet on both sides of their long driveway. The lanterns have different color bulbs. Then strung between them, along the driveway, are color rope lights. It looks awesome! and Merry Christmas!

If I had a house, not just an apartment, I would put up varying sizes of snowflakes that shine iridescently and/or glow-in-the dark. More traditionally, though not allowed in most places now...a nativity scene. To me it's a reminder that Christmas (though incorrect time frame) originally was considered a way of honoring Jesus' birth. These days it gets to be a confusing issue as to what we are allowed now to put up.
How bout something like a bird feeder for some of our feathered friends, or a carrot or two in a small container for rabbits. Things like that.
Christmas should be less about the decorations and more about sharing what we have with those who have not.

I always liked how my parents did their decorations. They just put up greenery and white lights, and then got a spot light to light up the whole house. (and theymake them in different colors too) Very tasteful I thought.

Do a live manger - light it up and use real people to play the parts - you might want a doll for baby Jesus though - the nights are getting cold. Serve warm cider for lookers - Merry Christ-mas!
