Coming from experience...I am a man who plays video games as well...video games is a relaxant for us. We don't always play them necessarily because it is fun. It takes weight off of our shoulders from a hard day. Men are scientifically better with hand/eye coordination than women are, that is why men enjoy playing games more than women do. Women may like to read books because they can fantasize more than men can. Video games make us in a better mood.

It shows a lot of commitment that you play with him on certain games, but you have to draw a line somewhere. When I first got with my fiance we were great, he hardly every played and slowly he progressed into a serious gamer. I would advise to never threaten him that you are going to leave him, this will result in your own heartbreak. Since he doesn't seem to like you going out with your friends, then you say this," I am going out with my friends because all you do it play your video games, if you want me to stay home then turn the game off and spend time with me" also cutting off the sex is a good idea too. Because honey if he wants you there for sex, and food then you are just a maid and sex object. It this doesn't work then I would sit him down and say sorry but I can't be in a relationship that isn't going anywhere.

You know....initially my wife complained that I spent hours in front of the computer maneuvering a U-Boat into position to discharge a torpedo into a freighter, snipe German soldiers from a bell tower or lead entire Roman Legions as a member of the Julili Family to great conquests and becoming a great emperor.
Now mind you...despite my being in the middle of juggling stocks around and laying track for my railroad empire, I still cooked, cleaned, worked and did other chores that necessitated my leaving the virtual world I immerse myself in and coming back to reality.
She finally came to this conclusion....and I quote her (and this is what she told my old mother when she complained that i was playing games too much) so you can chew on this "Dear...I don't care if you live on that thing. You pause the game when I talk to you or need something and you shut it off when I need something done around the house. At least I know where you are and you're not in a bar drinking or trying to pick up women".
So...lay off him huh. You could have one of these goofy situations with him that these other women have with their husbands like downloading porn all day, unfaithfulness, spending his paychecks on lap dances or an strange infatuation for one legged homosexual dwarfs. Or...he could have the mindset of R-U-Readdy up there. Big Ego with a large appetite. Bet his fiance would cringe if she saw what he said.

Wouldn't you rather him at home playing games than out running the streets.I don't understand some of you ladies aren't happy no matter what your husbands do.I mean if he was outside working on his car instead of playing the video games you would probably complain about that to.You have to let go and let him be himself and if he enjoys playing games let him.If you want to do something with him play the game with him.I guess I am just a different kind of wife or something because I support my hubby with regard to all of his hobbies.I even run out and buy him the game he wants when it comes out.

My husband wanted an X-box 360 for Christmas but he's not getting one. :) It doesn't change; it's just where their interests lie.

I would have had to choose between being upset all the time or accepting it, so I accepted. I actually play MMO's with him now. It's just one of the things we do as a couple.

And it's eaiser to drag him away when we both have played for awhile and say "let's do something else, I'm all computered out!"

I'm just glad to know that i am not the only woman in this situation.. At first when i met my husband I thought it was cute that he played video games with his son. Now, however, the cuteness is wearing off. I guess we should just be thankful that they are home and you know what they are up to. They could be doing something out and about and we would worry about htat too.

I play video games all the time. My wife does not mind. Most the time she is right beside me playing along. Everyone is different. But if he still plays games he will probably play them for a long time.

Some people have more of an addictive personality than others. My husband and I play video games, but it's not a *major* part of our reality. However, my brother-in-law lives, sleeps and breathes this video game; he spends all of his days glued to it. It depends on a person.

If their hands fall off, they will learn to play with their feet. Believe me. I mean, I love to play video games, but there's a point where one can definitely take it too far, just like any other hobby.

Yes video games can be a form of addiction. Like it was for me, it's a way to escape reality. I believe playing to much is unhealthy.
