I've been working in a small office for 4 years. I work closely with Jan. She has been there for 8 years and practically runs the company herself. The owner of the company wants to go into semi-retirement & have Jane run everything. Jan knows what's going on better than the owner does. Two weeks ago, Jan had an argument with the owner's wife outside of work. Although their argument was settled, the wife has been very cold & rude whenever she comes into the office. The owner's wife does light office work and is in & out whenever she pleases. Jan is getting really fed up with her rudeness. Jan told me that if her attitude doesn't change soon, she'll look for another job. This would be a huge problem for the company since the owner relies on Jan so much. I don't know if he sees what's going on between his wife and Jan. Should I say something to the owner? What would I say? Should I stay out of it? If Jan leaves, I'm leaving too because I know there would be a huge strain on the company.

Stay out of it, unless you are confronted by the owner and he asks you what is going on.

Stay out of this issue. If the owner's wife is an issue for you as well, report your own complaint and hope Jan follows suit.

Stay out of it. You don't want to be the next person who she is cold and rude to. Let them work it out. And honestly, when have you ever known a man to get upset about two women argueing?

You need to stay out of it. This is really Jan's problem. If she is unhappy then she needs to be hte one to talk to the owner.

I agree with the others.

It's not your problem. Keep your mouth closed and let these two grown adults deal with it themselves.

You don't want to get involved in the politics of it unless you want to get fired or despised.

Stay outta it, unless you think it effects YOU or the company as a whole.

Tough call. I would say to stay out of office conflicts that don't directly involve you.

Yes, you should definitely tell the owner what is going on..
Often, men are blind as to what their wives are really doing..
