I've had 2 vag and 1 c-section. I would do a vaginal any day over the surgery. Here's why:
Vaginal: pros- quick recovery, feeling of accomplishment, immediate bonding with baby, no scarring. cons- you may not know when you will deliver, long labor is possible
C-Section: pros- knowing exactly when you will deliver, no labor. cons- soooo much pain afterward, long recovery time, scar from the incision, no immediate bonding with baby (you get to kind-of hold the baby for a minute, then you have to do the recovery thing), longer hospital stay.
With the drugs that are available for pain management during labor, a vaginal delivery is not so bad. It basically comes down to what is best for you and your baby. Make the choice that you and your OB think is the right one.
Good luck!

My 1st was vag., long & exhausting, but well worth it. My 2nd was emergency c-section, I was taken back, given my anesthetic, had the baby, and closed back up in an hour. The c-section is less painful, you have a small scar, but it's pretty easy, if I ever have more kids, I want a c-section. After the c-section, you can't drive for a while, 2 weeks I think, and be careful picking things up. After a vag., you're sore and also have to take things easy. It really is a personal decision, unless something happens and you're forced to have a c-section, which isn't so bad.

pros vaginal birth- less recovery time, dad can cut the cord, feeling of accomplishment, can have more than just dad in room if wanted, able to bond with baby quicker
cons vaginal birth- pain, pain, pain, soreness after birth
pros c- section - no pain felt during surgery only pressure, dad can go back if mom is not put to sleep
cons c- section- longer recovery time, can not bond with baby right away, not able to do as much for the baby.
having had both, i prefer a c-section with a spinal injection so dad can enjoy the experience as well. my only disappointment was that they did not let him cut the cord.

well id have to say the cons to the c-section is that you can't get up right away and walk around and also you dont get to be with the baby as soon as you normally would and dont get solids until the 2nd day!!.. the pros are that its quick and you dont really have any of the work to do... cons on vaginal.. is that there is sometimes tearing which can be painful.. never had any problems with vaginal at all... pros.. are that well for one my son never even went to the nursery he was with me the entire time. and that i was up and walking around dressed back in my normal clothes and eating normal food about 20 minutes after delivery!

I had to have a c-section b/c my bones were too small for the baby to fit through, it didnt hurt during and I was really drugged up that was good, but after it was really hard to walk around and it hurt and they told me not to do anything for almost 2 weeks not even vaccuum!! So my husband helped me alot. But I have to have a c-section will all of my kids so I will never know what thats like, and I wanted to, but thats ok,the baby is worth it.

i had a vaginal birth and i loved it because there is nothing like it.....i don't know why but i can't really explain it. I loved that i was the one doing the work to bring my child into the world. I would neve change that and want a vaginal birth for this baby also.
