because tennis players are constantly running from side to side and the cup would get in the way and even if he did get hit a tennis ball is not as hard as a baseball

Who besides the catcher wears a cup in baseball? Except for some linemen, FOOTball players don't even wear cups anymore. Now ice hockey, yes. Believe me, those guys know what to do with those sticks. And who cares what tennis players wear? If you are watching the male tennis players THAT closely, you may be in the wrong forum. Just saying.

Probably because a baseball weighs almost three times as much as a tennis ball.
Many baseball players don't wear cups...usually the guys around the infield do.
Anyway, I don't think Sharapova would be as pleasing to the eye with a cup on....

I was a high school catcher, trust me most baseball guys aren't scared of anything and certainly aren't weak. You may not be hitting the weight room like the football team but there's lots of strength training, stretching, you practice for hitting with weighted bats, there's no weaklings in baseball, at least not for long.
Now about protection, baseballs thrown & hit at 70 MPH and higher can hurt you, especially down there. I don't know about you, but I consider certain parts of my body important so I protect them.
Ever get hit by a pitch?
It can really do some damage to you. Now I think some guys go overboard with the elbow pads and all that body armor, though a foul tip to the shins can be really painful and can keep you from playing your best.
Think about that next time you see a baseball player get hit by a line drive.

No you don't wear a cup in tennis. In all my years I've never seen or experienced getting hit there. The chances of you not being able to block it are very very slim. Even if the serve is insanely fast, most people would be able to react somewhat. Besides, can you imagine trying to run around with a cup? It'd be very awkward and I think impractical

because getting hit by a baseball hurts a heck of a lot more than getting hit by a tennis. and of course tennis players have a huge racket to deflect the ball with, and in tennis you don't usually hit it straight at the other player except for serves. and a wide range of motion is even more important in tennis than baseball

A 100 MPH fastball coming off the bat is going to do more damage to your junk than a "soft" tennis ball, even served at over 120 mph. It normally bounces 1st and is no where near as hard.
I have played both and never even thought about wearing a cup for tennis.

because most tennis players are women and tennis balls and a lot softer than baseballs. and that didn't make any sense = " i don't know why i think it might "**be cause baseball players are weak and are scared of any type of contact** " Why would the baseball players need cups if they were weak and were scared of any type of contact, and what the helll kind of conact are you talking about?
