I know how you feel. I felt the same way too but college isn't that bad.
You just have to focus on what you are doing. Make sure you prioritize your studies. Budget your time.
Try to find someone in your class who can be your study buddy. Take notes. Read the syllabus thoroughly. If you have any questions, ask the instructor. If you're shy and don't want to do that in front of the class, schedule an appointment with your instructor. If you don't understand anything, ask the instructor.
But whether you like it or not there will be instructors who are rude. Try looking in your school if it has a study lab or a Math Lab. I'm sure there will be tutors out there who can help you out.
Most of all, study, study, study!
Good Luck and have fun!

Hey girl, it's okay to be nervous because you are just opening another chapter in your life..college. There's really nothing to be worried about because it's nothing like high school, the people over there are more friendly and much more mature, I know this because I am really shy too, but as you go there you get use to the routine of going to class, listening to lecture, and taking your midterms and final. All you need to do is just study every day for your classes, if you have any problems ask other students because everyone is there for one thing to get an education so they take school very seriously. Just go to school, go with the flow and in about 3 weeks to a month college will feel normal, trust me it's just something new, so go to college have fun and learn! Just remember you have been use to this protective shell of a high school that it's hard to break out of it, but once you do, college will feel just like college, if you know what I mean, it won't feel intimidating anymore, just have fun, k!

The thing about college is that it isn't like high school...most of the time. It is more difficult than that, and the people around you aren't really quick to make friends with you. BUT, there are people who you will get to know that you would have never known if you would have stayed home.
My wife and I graduate from high school in the 90's, and we just went back to school this September. We realized that we were going to school for ourselves, and to better our lives. Throughout the first few weeks of the term, we didn't talk to many people. But, as we started getting comfortable in our classes we started reaching out to people and slowly getting to know them. After the term was over, we had been getting together with these people daily to go over lecture notes.
So, there is no need to be afraid. I can understand why you are nervous, though. But, this will be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life. You will just have to make the decision to dive in head first, do your work, communicate with your teachers, and remember that you are there for YOUR education.

There is nothing to be nervous about. College is just so much better than High School. I can't tell you how much I hated HS, and how much I loved college.
The nice thing is that you can study the things that you like and are good at. You can challenge yourself if you want to -- but there is no one forcing you.
In High School, I was somewhat shy. I felt that there was no one there who was like me. In College, I opened up & discovered that there were lots of people like me. You will, too.

Don't worry. My daughter is a freshman. She was very nervous and she absolutely LOVES college. She also is shy and nervous - or should I say WAS. All that seems to be behind her big time.
